EDITH WATSON

Edith Schooley Watson, 87, a former Grinnell teacher, died Thursday, Dec. 2, at Friendship Manor Care Center.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Lynnville Friends church, with burial in West Liberty Cemetery near Searsboro.

The daughter of James and Sarah Addie McKune Schooley, she was born Dec. 29, 1905, near New Sharon. She graduated from New Sharon High School in 1924 and was a 1961 graduate of William Penn College. She was married to Clifford Leroy Watson June 25, 1929, near New Sharon.

Mrs. Watson taught in rural schools and in Searsboro and Grinnell. She was a former member of the Searsboro Community Church and attended the Lynnville Friends Church after moving to that community. She also was a member of the Lynnville Women's Club, the Grinnell-Newburg Education Association and the National Education Association.

Surviving are two sons, Charles of Oskaloosa and Robert of Glidden; four daughters, Joan Snook of Searsboro, Mariyln Sparks of Lynnville, Addie Mae Criswell of Lincoln, Neb., and Maxine Naylor of Rock Rapids; 25 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Richard; and six brothers, Earl, Ralph, Floyd, Clark, Leslie and Everett.

Memorials in her name may be made to Camp Quaker Heights and left at the Harden Fuernal Home in New Sharon.
