MATILDA PROSSER
WATSON IS DEAD

Matilda Prosser, daughter of Daniel and Matilda Prosser, was born on a farm south of Grinnell, Dec. 14, 1858.

In 1893 she was married to Frank S. Watson of Searsboro. To this union two children were born, William P. Watson, now of Newton, Ia., the other dying in infancy. They also raised a niece, now Mrs. Anna Bahrenfuse of Kellogg, Ia.

Mrs. Watson was one of a family of eight children, two brothers still living; William Prosser of Grinnell and Daniel Prosser of Minneapolis, Minn. She is survived by her husband and son and a number of relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Watson moved to Grinnell in 1918, where they lived until her death which occurred at the Community hospital, Jan. 5th, 1930, after a short but severe illness, aged 71 years and 22 days. Mrs. Watson was a member of the Rebekah Lodge of this city. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, deeply interested in her friends and neighbors, always had a kind word for everyone, generous in sharing of her best with the ones she could reach. Although of a retiring dispostion she was very true to her friends, and will be greatly missed by those who knew her and loved her in the neighborhood. The funeral service was conducted at the Friends church by Rev. Robert Lincoln. Two beautiful songs were sung: "We Are Going Down the Valley One by One" and "There Will Be No Night There." Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Lord, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Howell composed the quartet. The Rebekah Lodge had a short service at the cemetery. Burial was at Westfield. Pallbearers were: George Pearce, Walter Brown, Harry Brown, Frank Pearce, Fred Brown, Ed Brown.
