HELEN HARGRAVE

Helen M. Hargrave, 91, of Grinnell died Sunday, Aug. 13, at Friendship Manor.

Funeral services were held Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Del Dawes, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner. Burial was in Jackson Township Cemetery, Montezuma.

She was born June 22, 1909, in Grinnell to Char and Midge Cowguill Chancey. She was a 1927 graduate of Grinnell High School.

In July 1927, she began a 60-year career with Grinnell State Bank. She retired in July 1987 as vice president and trust officer.

She was married to George R. Hargrave Aug. 1, 1937, in Grinnell.

Mrs. Hargrave was involved in many community functions and served as treasurer of the Grinnell-Newburg School District for 40 years. She was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She had also been a member of the Grinnell Soroptimist Club and was past noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge.

There are no immediate survivors. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
