SERVICES HELD

Funeral services for Aaron Guy Titcomb, 79, who died July 26 at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at the Steffy Funeral Home in Montezuma.

The Rev. Lester Hall officiated, and organist was Alice Underwood. Pallbearers were Don Sarver, Fred Cochran, Larry Minner, Glenn Van Dyke, Blair Brooks, and Richard Davis. Honorary pallbearers were Fred Zorn, Charles Zorn, and Howard Bernard.

Burial was in Jackson Township Cemetery, Montezuma.

The son of Jacob and Jennie Farmer Titcomb, he was born in Blue Mound, Kan., April 4, 1894. He moved to Iowa with his family when he was seven, and was educated in rural schools in Poweshiek County. He farmed in this area all of his active life.

Mr. Titcomb served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War I, and was a 53-year member of Blakely-Stevens Post No. 169, Montezuma. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Montezuma and was a long-time member of the Odd Fellows lodge in Searsboro.

In 1935, he was married to Edna Jordan, who died March 14. 1966.

On Jan. 21, 1967, he was married to Lela Vest in Durango, Colo.

Mr. Titcomb was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife; a step son, Erwin Jordan of Montezuma; two step-granddaughters, four step-great-grandchildren; six nephews, Melvin Myers of Clinton, Homer Myers of Moline, Ill., John Tolles of Kansas City, Mo., Truman Titcomb and Ray Titcomb of Toledo, and Allen Titcomb of New York; and three nieces, Eva Cochrane of Wright, Jean Scudder of Toledo, and Lou Ella Zumwalt of Ottumwa.
