FORMER COLLEGE
FOOTBALL STAR, DIES

Leonard A. (Len) Winter former Grinnell college star football end and a graduate here in 1925, died in Chicago recently, according to press dispatches Sunday.

Death followed an illness of three days from pneumonia. He had been employed as an auditor at the Congress hotel.

Winter made a fine reputation as coach at Center college, where he turned out some outstanding teams. He later went to Loras college as coach until a breakdown in health necessitated his retirement.

He married Ruth Somers, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. P.E. Somers. There are two children, Sally, a member of the college senior class, and Sue.
