Was One of County's Old and Respect-
ed Residents--Funeral Wednesday.

Frederick Weis, an old and much respected citizen of Poweshiek county, passed away at his farm home in Chester township, August 24. Mr. Weis was born December 2, 1852, in Prussen, Germany, Hasselback Town. He came to America and settled in this part of the country thirty-five years ago. Mr. Weis was brought up in the Lutheran faith and confirmed in the church in Fishelback, Germany. He was married to Rosina Lauber. To this union were born four children, three daughters and one son: Mrs. Clarence Smith of Springfield, Minn., Miss Rose Weis of Grinnell, Mrs. Amelia Armstrong of Grinnell, and Richard Weis of Ames. The mother died January 17, 1905. December 28, 1909, Mr. Weis was united in marriage to Jane Busenbark at Grinnell, Iowa. In 1911 they moved onto the farm in Chester township where they have resided ever since. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, Mrs. Jane Wies, three daughters and one son, one brother in Germany and seven grandchildren.

The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. H.L. Wissler at the home in Chester on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, and the body laid to rest in the cemetery near the Lutheran church in Sheridan.
