MARY CREECH
RITES TODAYMrs. Mary Madge Creech, 69, of Newton, a former Grinnell resident, died Thursday morning at University Hospitals in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home in Newton, with burial at Newton Union Cemetery.
The daughter of J. Lockwood and Abigail Day Kirkland, she was born Jan. 12, 1907, at Plano, Iowa. She was graduated from Centerville High School and attended summer school at Bloomfield and Corydon. She had taught rural schools in Appanoose County.
She was married to Forrest Wayne Creech on Nov. 23, 1927, at Centerville. She lived in Grinnell for five years, moving to Newton eight years ago.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Leslie Gene of Newton and Kenneth L. of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren; her father, J. Lockwood Kirkland of Newton; one sister, Gladys B. Miller of Mt. Dora, Fla. She was preceded in death by her mother.
