JENNIE STEFFEN SERVICES HELD

Jennie M. Steffen, 67, of Victor died Thursday, April 1, at University Hospitals in Iowa City following a long illness.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at St. James Lutheran Church in Victor, with the Rev. Earl Moermond officiating. Burial was at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Victor.

The daughter of Henry and Minnie Schmidt Smith, she was born July 14, 1914, in Lincoln Township, Iowa County. She was raised in Lincoln Township where she attended St. John's Parochial School.

On Jan. 16, 1935, she was married to Arnold Steffen. The couple farmed until 1960 when they moved to Victor. Mr. Steffen died in 1968, and Mrs. Steffen continued to live in Victor.

She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and had belonged to the church's ladies aid.

Survivors include her two daughters, Sylvia Root of rural Hartwick and Arlene Nagel of rural Malcom; five grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Gorsch of Williamsburg; and one brother, William Smith of Victor. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, Henry Smith Jr. and Walter Smith.
