LAST SERVICES FOR
MRS. MICHAEL AUSTIN
THIS AFTERNOONFuneral services for Mrs. Michael Austin, widow of one of Grinnell's earlier prominent business men, were held from the Snyder Brothers Chapel at 2 o'clock, this afternoon conducted by Professor J.D. Stoops. Music was provided by Mrs. Margary Bouma. Burial was in Hazelwood cemetery. Pall bearers were V.G. Preston, John Manly, J.H. McMurray, Dr. P.E. Somers, L.V. Phelps and J.G. Shifflett. The body was accompanied to Grinnell by Mrs. Austin's sister-in-law, Mrs. Will Kirby, from Manitou, Colo., where Mrs. Austin died last Sunday.
The late Mr. Austin was one of the heads of Grinnell's first big industry, the Steele & Austin header works which operated in the plant where the Spaulding Manufacturing Co. was later located.
