JOHN DICKINSON

John W. Dickinson was born in Alexandria, N. Hampshire, October 11, 1843 and died at his home in Minneapolis, April 5, 1907. His body was brought to Grinnell Sunday to be laid to rest in the family lot at Hazelwood beside his wife and parents. Mr. Dickinson came west forty years ago and settled on a farm about three and a half miles southeast of Grinnell. With Mr. Dickinson and his family came his father, Kendrick Dickinson and wife, Warren Sanborn and family, Horace Thompson and family, Stephen Morse and wife and Lewis Cass and family. He lived on the farm until after the death of his wife and parents. He then moved in to the city with his family of five children, living here until about seventeen years ago when he moved to Minneapolis where he resided until his death. His children who survive him are Willard H. Dickinson of Minneapolis; John C. and Lewis E. Dickinson of Holyoke, Mass.; Mrs. March Wilson of Randolph, Vermont; and Mrs. Wendall Knauss, formerly Miss Mollie Cass, of this city.

The funeral services were held yesterday, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the Baptist church, Rev. A.J. Hurley in charge. A quartette composed of members of the church choir furnished music. They were Mrs. A.C. Norris, Bert Hobbs, Arthur Rhobarnia, and Miss Josephine Parmenter. The pall bearers were Messrs. Willis Davis, W.W. Stowe, B.W. Stowe, Geo. Sampson, W.T. Moyle, and W.H. Day, all members of the Masonic lodge of which the deceased was a member.

Mr. Dickinson was of the sturdy New England stock, one of those pioneers who helped make strong the foundations of our municipality and whose presence is a blessing to any community.

CARD OF THANKS

We desire to thank the many kind friends in Grinnell for their sympathy and aid during our recent bereavement.
W.H. DICKINSON
