LOLA CONNELLY
SERVICES HELD

Lola May Connelly, 88, of West Des Moines, formerly of Grinnell, died Saturday morning at Crestview Acres in West Des Moines.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Hugh A. Shiveley, pastor of the Grinnell First Baptist Church, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers were Dave Barns, Harold Brown, Donovan Evans, Roger McMullin, Clair Strand and Evan Walden. Honorary pallbearers were Leonard Evans, William Greenwald, Jay Parrott, and LaVerne Raffety.

Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery.

Should friends desire memorials in Mrs. Connelly's name may be made to the Grinnell First Baptist Church.

The daughter of Burdette and Theresa Earl Stowe, she was born Oct. 15, 1888, in Atlantic. She moved to Grinnell with her family and attended Grinnell schools.

On May 2, 1911, she was married to Clyde F. Connelly at her family home in Grinnell. Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Connelly lived in Spencer and Mankato, Minn., for five years before moving to Grinnell in 1927.

Mrs. Connelly was employed by the Grinnell Herald before her marriage. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Isabella Brande Guild, and the Brande Bible Class. She was a former member of the Razelle Club, Rebekah Lodge No. 119, and Phythian Temple No. 198.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. James (Wanda) Williams of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Donald (Frances) Barns of Houston, Tex., Mrs. Max (Janice) Arnold of Marshalltown, and Mrs. Norman (Elinor) Roseland of West Des Moines; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Stowe of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a granddaughter; five sisters, Mrs. Addie Agnew, Mrs. Blanche Manatt, Lillian Stowe, Bess Stowe and Mrs. Mary "Kit" Cratty; and two brothers, Willard "Bud" Stowe and Earl Stowe.
