IN MEMORIAM

Mrs. J.W. Fuller after a brief illness died March 15th, 1905, in Chester township.

Nancy A. Gates was born in Vermont, July 14th, 1834. In 1854 she came to Iowa with the family of L.C. Phelps, and resided at Grinnell where she was united in marriage with J.W. Fuller, July 4th, 1856.

To this union were born seven children, three of whom died in early childhood. Those living are, Mrs. Jennie E. Ward, Tacoma, Washington; Mrs. ??nnie L. Garland, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Porter Y. Fuller, living on the home farm in Chester, Iowa; John W. Fuller, Bozeman, Montana. Also by adoption in infancy, Mrs. Ruth C. Armstrong, Chester, Iowa, who was to the last a great comfort and help to the parents in their declining years.

In 1862 they moved into Chester township, where they have since lived with the exception of two and a half years spent in Illinois caring for Mrs. Fuller's blind father till his death.

Mrs. Fuller became a Christian and united with the Congregational church in early womanhood. For many years till death she was a member of the Congregational church at Chester Center where as well as in her family her loss will be severely felt.

Four years ago she had an attack of pneumonia that nearly proved fatal and from which she had never fully recovered.

The funeral services were held in the Chester Congregational church, March 20th, the pastor, G.C. Jewell, officiating. The burial was in Chester cemetery. G.C.J.
