RITES FOR MR. OUTLAW

G. Richard Outlaw, 63, of Montezuma died Sunday evening at Grinnell General Hospital of cancer.

The Mass of the Resurrection was held Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Harry H. Linnenbrink officiating. Organist was Mary Ellen Brock with the St. Mary's Church Choir. Pallbearers were Charles Boeding, Richard Gunderson, Pat Fitzgerald, Edwin J. Miller, Gerald R. Schmidt, and Larry W. Wilson. The scripture service and Rosary were recited Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Friends may call the Smith Funeral Home for additional information.

He was the son of George William and Marguerite Elizabeth Rolet Outlaw and was born Jan. 13, 1921, at Jamaica, L.I., N.Y. He attended the public schools of Floral Park, L.I. and graduated in 1939 from Sewanhaka High School. During World War II he served in the Coast Guard.

He was married to Joan Conrad at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City Dec. 18, 1943. Following his discharge he attended the New York School of Optometry at New York University. He practiced as an optician for over 30 years, retiring last December. He was a member of St. Hedwig's Catholic church in Floral Park; a member of the parish council; served as past president of St. Hedwig's Holy Name society and a member of the Catholic War Veterans of Flora Park Post #882. He also served as past president of the Society of Dispensing Opticians of Nassau County.

Following his retirement, the couple moved to Montezuma to make their home. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grinnell and the Grinnell Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; his daughters Patricia (Mrs. Kenneth) Raynor of Montezuma and Elizabeth (Mrs. Michael) Woodworth, Annandale, Va.; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
