ALICE LAURINE MORTON

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Oct. 31 for Alice Laurine Morton, 78, of Guernsey, who died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Burial was at Guernsey Cemetery. Rev. Audrey Westendorf officiated.

Alice was born on September 17, 1922, in rural Ladora, Ia. She attended #11 country school northwest of Ladora and later attended school in Marengo.

She was married to Elbert Morton Aug. 25, 1941, in Unionville, Mo. The couple made their home in Guernsey, and she was employed as an aid in the Marengo Hospital. She was a member of the Guernsey Methodist Church and is noted to have enjoyed camping, writing letters and cards, solving hidden word puzzles, and visiting with her friends and family.

Her parents, one brother and sister, Lloyd Heller, Jr. and Mary Heller, and one great-great-grandchild preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Elbert of the Mayflower Home in Grinnell; her children and their spouses, Larry and Retha Morton of Grinnell, Paul and Julie Morton of Cedar Rapids, John and Bonnie Morton of Guernsey, Tom Morton of Guernsey, James and Deb Morton of Victor, Joy and Dale Douglas of Brooklyn, and Mary and Terry Steele of Grinnell; 31 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are five brothers and their spouses, Ernest Heller of Ladora, Elvin and Nancy Heller of Solway, Mn., Wesley and Marietta Heller of Marengo, George and Vava Heller of Marengo, and Frank and Zehna Heller of Lostine, Or.
