MRS. EARL NEELY
DIES AT HOME
IN LONG BEACH
-------------------------
(By W.G. Ray)Mrs. Earl Neely of Long Beach, California, died suddenly at her home Tuesday evening. She retired about 10:30 o'clock in good health and apparently never woke from sleep. Funeral services were held today at 1:30 o'clock at Long Beach with burial there.
She is survived by her husband and five children, Earl, Alma, James, Margaret and May, and other relatives.
Mrs. Neely was known here as Esther Meanor and when I became superintendent of Grinnell schools they lived in the Meanor hotel, which stood where the Iowa Theatre now stands and which was torn down to make place for the Colonial Theatre. Her brother, John, went to Des Moines and got into the mail service in that city and has been running a garage in recent years. A brother, Anson, died several years ago at his home in New York State. Anson was a fine boy and one I always liked. He was gentlemanly and so kind in his treatment of his teachers. A sister, Mrs. Mabel Perry, is living at Long Beach Calif.
