CARMICHAEL FUNERAL
SUNDAY AFTERNOONW.H. (Bert) Carmichael, Brooklyn farmer all of his life, died last Friday at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids where he was admitted four days previously. He was 83 years old.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at Bramer Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. G.H. Husebus, pastor of First United Presbyterian church. Leo Shuler was organist.
Interment was in I.O.O.F. cemetery with Byard Braley, Warren Carpenter, Harley Burch, Raymond Montgomery, Floyd McAllister and Clinton Fowler serving as pallbearers. Francis Creps and Mrs. Raymond Montgomery assisted with the flowers.
William Herbert Carmichael, son of William and Adeline Adams Carmichael, was born July 31, 1879, in Warren township, Poweshiek county, and died March 1, 1963.
He grew up in the rural area, attended the local schools and made his home on a farm in Poweshiek county all of his life. He was married to Abbie Johnston Sept. 30, 1908, and one son, Kenneth, was born to the couple.
Mr. Carmichael was a charter member of the Poweshiek county Farm Bureau, a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge for 62 years, and a member of the Presbyterian church for 62 years. He had been partially retired for the last several years, however he continued living at his farm home.
He is survived by his wife, Abbie; son, Kenneth; three grandchildren, Karen, Robert and Richard Carmichael; one sister, Mrs. Winnie Price, nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Mrs. Rene (Effie) Duffus.
