MRS. BERTHA LIGHT SERVICES WEDNESDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Light were conducted by Mr. Dean Lankford Wednesday, August 31, at 10 a.m. at the Steffy Funeral Home. Mr. Lankford was the soloist at the services accompanied by Miss Alice Underwood, organist.

Interment was in Ottumwa Cemetery at Ottumwa, Iowa. Casket bearers were William Rempp, Larry Huff, Don Hall, Arlo Van Hoever, Daryl Minner, and McKinley Milligan.

Bertha, daughter of Anna and Adam Kiefer, was born in Selma, Iowa, on Sept. 19, 1873, and died at her home in Montezuma Monday, August 29. She was 92.

She attended the local school and graduated from Eldon High School.

On Jan. 8, 1893, she married L.T. Crisman. To this union three children were born. Two sons, Vern and Ancil, died in their youth. They made their home in Ottumwa where Mr. Crisman was a building contractor. After the death of Mr. Crisman in November, 1918, Mrs. Crisman and her daughter, Claudine, moved to Des Moines. In the fall of 1924, they came to Montezuma where Claudine taught in the school.

On April 1, 1925, she married Frank Light. Their home was in Montezuma until the death of Mr. Light in 1936. She then returned to Ottumwa to care for her mother. About 13 years ago she returned to Montezuma where she has been cared for in the home of her daughter.

Mrs. Light was a member of the Church of Christ and was interested in all civic activities.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Paul Rempp; two grandchildren, William Rempp and his wife, Margie, and Mrs. Joyce Hall and her husband, Don; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Lottie Welton of Nashville, Tenn.
