MRS. HELEN BRAMER

Last rites for Mrs. Helen Bramer, former resident of Brooklyn, were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Bramer Funeral Home in Brooklyn. The Rev. J.F. DeLong of the Methodist church in Grinnell officiated; Mrs. Nina Bartachek at the organ. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery with Arthur Kuntz, R.A. McCluskey, Ray Evans, C.F. Roudabush, Kenneth Gross and Howard Patten serving as pallbearers. In charge of floral arrangements were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Yount.

Helen Shearer, daughter of Anne and James Shearer, was born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, May 25, 1863, and passed away March 23, 1956, at a home in Montezuma.

She came to America with her parents, two brothers and four sisters at an early age and settled down on a farm near Ewart. She graduated from the Montezuma high school and taught in rural schools for several years.

She was married to Charles Bramer in 1899 and lived on a farm south of Brooklyn until the death of her husband in 1924, at which time she moved to Grinnell and resided there with her step-son, Elmer Bramer, until she was no longer able to care for herself due to her advanced age. She was moved to the Home in Montezuma in August, 1953.

She was a member of the Fairmont Community church and later transferred to the Methodist church in Grinnell.

Surviving relatives include her step-son, Elmer Bramer, two sisters, Margaret Shearer and Mrs. Joy Wilson, two nieces and several nephews.

Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. L.V. Wilson of Owatonna, Minn.; J.D. Berry, Clifford Duffus and Therald Duffus of Pipestone, Minn.
