H.M. RAMEY PASSES
-----------------------------
Old Time Business Resident of Grin-
nell Dies at Odd Fellows Home
At Mason City.

In the death of Henry M. Ramey Friday at Mason City there passed away a man who for years held a warm place in the hearts of a large circle of Grinnell friends. He was born in Knox Co., Ohio, June 2, 1838. In 1869 he moved to Iowa and located at Monroe. In 1871 he moved to Marengo and in 1875 came to Grinnell and went into the furniture business. Part of his business career in Grinnell he was associated as a partner with his brother-in-law, M. Howard. He owned and built the building occupied later by Baird and Wilcox, and installed a fine and large line of furniture. The lot is now occupied by the Grinnell Savings Bank.

Nearly 25 years ago Mr. Ramey sold out and moved to Campbell, California. Here some years later he was thrown from a wagon and so paralyzed as to be crippled the rest of his life. Later he returned to Iowa and entered the Home at Mason City. The body was brought to Grinnell for burial. Services were held at the Baptist church Sunday and burial was in Hazelwood.

Mr. Ramey was one of God's noblemen, honest, kind, lovable and true. Many friends deeply sympathized with him in his later years when misfortune had made him dependent upon the assistance of others. But he still retained the cheerful hopeful spirit which marked his early active life.
