FUNERAL SERVICES
FOR FIRE VICTIM

A Kellogg woman, Mrs. Leonard (Ethel) Starrett, 55, died Friday evening at a Newton hospital of burns received earlier that same day.

Mrs. Starrett reportedly told an attending physician that she had poured gasoline on her clothing and then ignited it. Because of this statement, no inquest was held.

Funeral services were held this afternoon (Monday) from the Kellogg Methodist church with the pastor, the Rev. Lyle S. Dunham, officiating. Interment was in Palo Alto cemetery.

The daughter of Bert and Sadie Rhodes Squires, she was born Oct 30th, 1907, near Newton, She was educated in the Newton schools and had resided on a farm near Kellogg since 1936.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard; a daughter, Mrs. Lewis (Marjorie) Robb of Kansas City, Mo.; two grandsons, Randy and Corey Robb of Kansas City; her stepmother, Mrs. D.M. Squires of Newton; a sister, Mrs. Ralph (Roberta) Sheese of Parkridge, Ill.; two uncles and one sister-in-law.

Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Delmar Squires.

Mrs. Starrett was a member of the Kellogg Methodist church and also belonged to the Order of Eastern Star, Amboy Grange, H.M. Club, and other organizations.
