MRS. JENNIE LOUISE BARNETT

Mrs. Jennie Louise Barnett, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Russell, was born July 27, 1861, in Davis county, Iowa, and passed away to a heavenly reward on July 11, 1921, at the age of 59 years, 11 months and 14 days.

On March 23, 1881, she was united in marriage with W.D. Barnett, who died on September 22, of last year, at their home in Grinnell.

She knew the greatest joys as well as the deepest sorrows of life; each made the other more intense, her joys the more exquisite and her sorrows the more poignant. Hers was the joy of being the mother of eight children, but seven times she was called to mourn their death. Only one, Miss Bertha Barnett, of Grinnell, was left to cherish and bless her later years.

Her affliction in health dates back a number of years, but since a slight stroke of paralysis a year ago July Fourth, she had gradually grown weaker until death came about six o'clock Monday morning.

Of her near relatives, in addition to her daughter, she leaves a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mayme Barnett and son, Russell, of West Grove, Iowa; three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. J.F. Barnett, Crawfordsville, Ia.; Mrs. Ida Lyons, Bloomfield; Mrs. Etta Porter, West Grove, Iowa; William J. Russell, Payette, Idaho; and Harry L. Russell, of West Grove.

She began active and faithful Christian life early in her youth and was an ardent worker in the cause of Christianity.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the family home on Park street, conducted by Rev. W.C. Wasser. Vocal selections were furnished by Mrs. E.A. Black and Mrs. C.W. Ennis, and following the service the body was taken to Hazelwood and interred by the side of her huband.
