OBITUARY.--Miss Mary Corrough was born October 6th, 1859, near Davenport, Iowa. When 9 years old she moved with her folks to Malcom, where she has since resided. Her death was caused by consumption and occurred at 9 o'clock Thursday morning, July 6th, 1899. The inception of her malady probably dates from November, 1890, at which time while attending college in Grinnell she was prostrated with a very severe attack of pneumonia. From this she never wholly recovered her wanted health and strength. About a year ago last February she was again taken down with pneumonia and again she rallied, although with health greatly impaired. To her relatives and many friends it was very evident that from this time on her days were, indeed, limited. In April of this year she was taken to Grinnell that she might be near her physician and receive his close attention, but medical skill and the most careful attention of a professional nurse, although they greatly palliated her suffering, could not check the course of the fatal disease, and on Thursday morning she yielded her spirit to it's Giver. The deceased at one time taught school in this county. She was a great lover of music and painting. She was a member of the Presbyterian church of this place. The funeral services were held at the Corrough home on Sabbath, July 9th, at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. E.M. Vittum, of Grinnell, and the Rev. R.W. Taylor. The remains were laid to rest in the Malcom cemetery, whither they were followed by an unusually large concourse of loving nd sympathizing friends.
