MATTHIAS MACKLIN
Matthias Macklin was born in Townsend, Huron county, Ohio, November 7, 1841. He remained there till the 18th day of February, 1864, when he enlisted in the service of his country and was with Sherman in the "March to the sea." Receiving his discharge he gave up his gun at Louisville, Kentucky, the 11th day of July, 1865. On December 25, 1866, he was united in marriage to Miss Arvilla Round. To this unon was born one son, George, now residing at Grinnell. In Septemer, 1874, the family came to Grinnell where they lived for about six years, when they moved on the farm where Mr. Macklin still resided until the time of his sudden death January 4th, 1912. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife, one son, George, two brothers, Thaddeus and Andrew, who were not able to attend the funeral. The remains were laid to rest on Sunday, January 7th, in Hazelwood cemetery.
