MR. BEADERSTADT RITES SATURDAY

Bryan Beaderstadt, 85, of 902 Prince St., Grinnell, died Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 6, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Keith Briggs, pastor of the Grinnell First Friends Church, officiating. Organist was Blanche Wyngarden. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Bryan, John, Dennis, Dick, Mike and Matt Beaderstadt. Flower bearers were Eunice Kelm and Betty Stepp. Burial was at the Friends Cemetery, Lynnville.

Memorials in Mr. Beaderstadt's name may be made to the Poweshiek County Work Activity Center for Retarded Citizens at Montezuma.

The son of Myer and Mattie Kuiken Beaderstadt, he was born Sept. 9, 1896, near Searsboro. He attended rural school and later graduated from the former Hazel Dell School near Lynnville. He attended Malone College at Cleveland, Ohio, for two years. Following his education, he moved to Kansas to farm and to serve as a probate judge.

On April 12, 1924, he was married to Jessie Wyngarden at Goodland, Kan. Mr. and Mrs. Beaderstadt continued to live in Kansas until moving to Lynnville in 1940. He farmed for 11 years between Searsboro and Lynnville. In the mid-1950s, he operated a restaurant at Lynnville, and from 1959 to 1962 he owned and operated the former Dixie Inn at Grinnell. He later operated the Sully Cafe until retiring in 1969. Mr. and Mrs. Beaderstadt moved to Grinnell in 1977. He was a member of the Dawn Bible Society and the Eagles Lodge of Grinnell.

Survivors include his wife; his children, Harold Beaderstadt of Brooklyn, Elaine Burk of Cedar Falls, Delmar Beaderstadt of St. Joseph, Mo., Keith Beaderstadt of Johnston, Kenneth Beaderstadt of Newton and Donald Beaderstadt of Wellington, Colo.; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Elgar, Orville and Basil.
