FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. BABB HELD AUG. 23

Sarah Melissa, daughter of John and Ellen McCullough, was born April 19, 1875, in Cass county, Iowa, and died at her home Aug. 21, at 86 years of age.

She attended rural school near her home and was then a member of the Evangelical church.

When a young woman, she came to Poweshiek county, where she met and later married George Babb, Oct. 16, 1899. To this union, a daughter was born. They made their home on a farm in the Beulah community. She transferred her church membership to the Beulah church and when it was disbanded, she transferred to the Barnes City Methodist church. She was always an active and loyal worker in her church. She was a charter member of the Beulah Club.

After the death of her husband in 1926, she maintained the farm home with the help of her daughter and son-in-law.

She is survived by her daughter, Lela Mouchka; five stepchildren, Charles, New Sharon, Joe, Newton, John, Cambridge, Minn., Glenn, Oskaloosa, and Bessie Ruggenberg, Ladora; 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Sarah M. Babb were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at the Steffy Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. William Moorehouse. Mrs. Robert Doonan played the musical numbers and accompanied William Rempp, who sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere."

Interment was in Masonic-IOOF cemetery. Casket bearers were Dale Montgomery, Lewis McKee, Marvin Campbell, Cliff Steele, Paul Hudnut and Oliver Hudnut.
