DODSON RITES SET TUESDAY

Grinnell Salesman Dies At Home Friday Night

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the James funeral home for Carl Dodson, 70, who died at his home in Grinnell Friday evening. The Rev. C.E. Kingsley of the Baptist church will officiate. Burial will be in the Oddfellows cemetery at Indianola.

Masonic graveside services will be conducted by the Neophyte Lodge No. 301 A.F. & A.M. of New Virginia.

He was born March 1, 1886 at Monmouth, Ill. He had lived in Grinnell for the past 16 years and was a feed salesman for the Life Guard Feed Products company.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge of New Virginia. Survivng are his wife Clistie; three daughters, Mrs. Gilbert (Nadine) Hobbe of Chariton, Mrs. J.A. (Wilma) White of Chariton, and Mrs. Charles (Mildred) Mikulanec of Indianola; two sons, Merrill of the U.S. Navy and Homer of Grinnell.

Also surviving are a brother, Earl of Des Moines, a sister, Lillie Norris of Indianola and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Chief Pharmacist's Mate Merrill Dodson will be unable to get home for the funeral services for his father, Carl Dodson. He is serving on the USS Storms, a destroyer now in Cuban waters. The other medical officer on the destroyer had been called home by a death in his family shortly before Dodson was notified of his father's death, so the Grinnell man had to remain with his ship.

However, crew members of the destroyer showed their sympathies by taking up a collection for Chief Pharmacist Dodson. The collection amounted to $123 and was to be used for a phone call to his wife in Norfolk, telling her of the death, and the remainder was to be used for flowers for the funeral.
