GUS J. KAISAND

Gus J. Kaisand, 62, of 1811 Prairie St., formerly of the Bethel community, died Friday, March 18, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Raymond Lott of the Grinnell United Methodist Church officiating. Organist will be Kathleen Heffner, and pallbearers will be Maynard Durr, Sidney Hunter, Eric Pederson, Darwin Stepanek, Lowell Thompson and Richard Zobel.

Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery southwest of Grinnell. Memorials in Mr. Kaisand's name may be left at the funeral home.

He was the son of Gustuf John and Mary S. Thompson Kaisand, and was born in Jasper County Nov. 14, 1926. He attended Grinnell schools, graduating from Grinnell High School in 1945.

He was married to Norma J. Pederson Oct. 23, 1949, in Grinnell. The couple farmed in the Bethel community until moving to Grinnell in November 1988.

Mr. Kaisand was a member of the Bethel Church, the Bethel Grange and the Grinnell Bowling League.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; two daughters, Colette Wilson of Grinnell and Marcia Neleman of Kellogg; one son, Gregory of Grinnell; five grandchildren; and his mother, Mary Kaisand of St. Francis Manor. He was preceded in death by his father.
