She was married on Nov. 1, 1922, to Leonard Ole Emmanual Pederson in Newton. She helped her husband on the farm while raising three children. After many years of farming, they moved into Grinnell where she worked at a bakery. She was talented in many areas, including baking, cooking and quilting and was known for her Swedish tea-ring, hickory-nut cakes and for serving her family lutefish with all the trimmings, passed down from her husband's Norwegian heritage. She had pieced and quilted at her grandmother's knee from early childhood and all her children, grandchildren and others were beneficiaries of her skill.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Chester Royal Grange, and the Merry-Go-Round Club. She and her husband took many fishing trips to Minnesota and Canada with family members and friends, and also wintered in Texas for many years.

She is survived by two sons, Don Pederson and Roger Pederson and one daughter Norma Kaisand, all of Grinnell; ten grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and her brother Wayne Mehlin of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one son, Leonard Pederson Jr.; one sister Lina Mehlin and four brothers, Leslie, Reno, Ray and Charles Mehlin.
