The Grinnell (IA) Herald; June 9, 1914

DIED.

A.N. SKEELS.

The body of A.N. Skeels, a brother of J.H. Skeels of this city, was brought to Grinnell for burial on Sunday afternoon from Des Moines, where he died in the Methodist Hospital early Friday morning. Mr. Skeels had injured a leg some time ago. Recently gangrene set in and amputation became necessary. Death soon followed the operation. The body was taken at once to the cemetery, where funeral exercises were conducted by Rev. J.M. Brown.

A.N. Skeels was a resident of Grinnell in the early days. Born in Lincoln county, Ohio, he came to Grinnell in 1856. About twenty years ago he moved to Des Moines, where his home has been ever since.

During his Grinnell residence he married a daughter of James Sparks who, with three sons and three daughters, survives him. The members of the family were all present at the funeral.
