MRS. L.J. HARDING DIES IN MALCOM
(By Staff Correspondent)
Malcom, Ia., Jan. 3, Special:

Loenza Jane Davis Harding, daughter of Thomas and Mary Davis, was born in Camden, Oneida County, New York, on January 9, 1853 and departed this life on Monday, Dec. 30, 1929 at the home of her brother, M.D. Davis in Malcom, Iowa being at the time of her death 76 years, 11 months, and 21 days old.

Mrs. Harding was one of a family of 13 children of whom only two remain being Mrs. Lena Goodyear of Cadillac, Michigan and M.D. Davis of Malcom. Mrs. Harding spent her younger days in New York having come to Cadillac, Michigan in 1896 and on to Iowa in 1897. On June 1, 1899 she was united in marriage to Richard Harding and settled on a farm south of Marshalltown, Iowa. After *Mr. Harding's death in 1902 she came to Malcom where she resided until her death.

She was a member of the M.E. Church and was very loyal to her church although deafness prevented her attendance during latter years.

After coming here Mrs. Harding took up nurse work and has taken care of the sick in many of the homes in this community where she has a host of true friends. She was always very thoughtful of others never thinking of herself. She has been failing in health for several years but just this fall was persuaded to leave her home.

Besides her brother and sister she leaves a step-daughter, Mrs. Eva Trout and husband and five children, Percy, Thelma, Merle, and Almeta of Marshalltown and Mrs. Marvin Weatherman of Waterloo.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at the M.D. Davis home, conducted by Rev. G.W. Baker of the M.E. Church. The pall bearers were men from homes in which she has taken care of the sick being Grover Eisele, Cooper Hutchison, George Eichhorn, William Schneckloth, Henry Ohland, and Charles Goodrich.

The body was laid to rest in the Malcom Cemetery, beside her sister, Mrs. Mary Whaley who preceded her 18 years ago.
