The Grinnell (IA) Herald; Nov. 22, 1912

--Word has reached Grinnell relatives and friends of the death at his home near Dillon, Mont., on November 4, of Theophilus B. Craver, formerly a resident of Grinnell. Mr. Craver spent his boyhood in Sugar Creek township and attended the Grinnell public schools, and when the Civil War broke out, though only a boy, he enlisted in the Fourth Iowa Cavalry, which was mustered in in Grinnell in November of 1863. He was mustered out in 1865 at Davenport, and resumed his studies there. He was for five years, beginning in 1873 in the drug business here. He went to Montana in 1879 and had made his home in that state ever since, having held many positions of honor and trust among his fellow citizens. He is survived by three of his eight children, by a sister, Mrs. C.M. Thomas, of this city, residing at 1309 Main street, and by three brothers, Thomas Craver, of the Searsboro vicinity, C.C. Craver of Deep River, and Atwood Craver, of New Sharon.
