AN OBITUARY OF GEORGE WOODARD

George Woodard was born in Cook County, Ill., Sept. 19,1856 and passed away at Long Beach, Calif. Sept. 16 1929. Deceased was the son of D.M. and A.M. Woodard. He resided in and near Chicago until 1869, and in 1872 he went with his parents to a farm in Jasper County, Iowa. In 1884 he moved to Grinnell and was united in marriage to Ellen L. Matteson on Feb. 26, 1891. To this union were born three children--Perry C., who died in infancy, Lillian D. Wandel, of Riverside, Ill., and Clare M. of Humboldt, Iowa.

In 1923 he and Mrs. Woodard moved to Long Beach, Calif., where he resided until the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter. Active pallbearers were former Grinnell men who reside in or near Long Beach. Services were held at Mottell's chapel, followed by interment at Sunnyside Mausoleum.
