OBITUARY

CLYDE MITCHELL

Clyde Mitchell, son of David and Ida Mitchell, was born Oct. 28, 1883 at Medaryville, Ind.

His parents came to Iowa when he was 7 years old. He married Tillie Van Gorp Feb. 18, 1909. They lived near Sully for four years and then moved near Lynnville. They also lived near Gilman, Melbourne and Laurel before moving to the Bethel Grove neighborhood southwest of Grinnell.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by his widow, two sons, Cornie of Melbourne and David of Grinnell and one daughter, Mrs. Bertha Wertz of Newburg. There are also five brothers, Glenn of Green Mountain, Lee of Unionville, Mo., Everett of Gilman, Merrill of State Center and Leslie of Portland, Oregon, five sisters, Mrs. Fern Randall of Marshalltown, Mrs. Edna Keopell of San Antonio, Texas, and Mrs. Grace Zigrang and Mrs. Dora Diggins of Melbourne, and by five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Clarence.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the First Baptist church of Grinnell with Rev. A.W. McBlain in charge. Music was provided by the Bethel Grove quartet. Pall bearers were John Jelsma, Cleon Russell, Wallace Williams, Ralph Stanley, Rayford Ratcliff and Dave White.

We wish to express our deep appreciation to all the neighbors and friends whose help and sympathy were extended to us in the time of our great sorrow and bereavement, and to the nurses of the Community hospital for their care of our loved one. Mrs. Clyde Mitchell, Cornie Mitchell and family, David Mitchell and family, Mrs. Bertha Wertz and family.
