MRS. EBERLY, 77, FORMER GRINNELLIAN, DIES IN DES MOINES

Mrs. Minnie Eberly, former Grinnell resident for many years, died July 29 in the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 8 days. Funeral services were held Monday in Des Moines with burial in the German cemetery in Kellogg.

Mrs. Eberly was born in Germany Nov. 21, 1876, the daughter of Henry and Mary Mithelman Lemke. She came to this country with her parents when five years old. The family settled in Kellogg where she was confirmed in the German Lutheran church.

On Aug. 1, 1904, she was united in marriage with Leon Ray Eberly, who preceded her in death in 1941. Also preceding her was a son by a former marriage, George William Jacobs. The Eberlys lived in Grinnell for many years.

Mr. and Mrs. Eberly were parents of two children, a daughter, Mary Belle and a son, William Ray, with whom she lived in Des Moines. Her daughter is now Mrs. Oscar Johnson of Creston.

Also surviving are five brothers, Henry Lemke of Thurman, August Lemke of Princeton, Minn., William Lemke of Cedar Rapids, Neb., Albert Lemke of Des Moines and Herman Lemke of Grinnell, one sister, Mrs. Anna Lamka of Troy, Ohio, a grandson, Leland Johnson of Creston, and numerous other relatives and friends.
