HELEN WALRAVEN

Helen Walraven, 78, of 205 Eighth Ave., Grinnell, died of cancer Sunday, Nov. 14, at Friendship Manor.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Calvary Baptist Church in Grinnell, with the Rev. Bruce Feuerbach officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Haven Cemetery, rural Tama County.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home. The family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

She was the daughter of Luther Allen and Lucile Borschel Parks and was born April 1, 1921, on the family farm north of Brooklyn.

She taught in rural schools in Tama and Poweshiek counties and later in the Grinnell-Newburg School District, retiring in 1976.

She was married to Raymond Keith Walraven Oct. 15, 1945, in Haven.

Mrs. Walraven was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and was a past president of the Tama County Rural Teachers Association.

She is survived by one daughter, Connie Osborn; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Hazel; and one brother, Donald Parks.
