CHARLES S. PADEN

Charles S. Paden was born Janaury 20, 1844, at Lancaster, Fairfield county, Ohio.

When quite young he moved with his parents to Davenport, Iowa, later moving to Durant, Cedar county, Iowa. In 1867 he was married to Miss Clarisa M. Slaenm, to which union three children were born: Jay D. Paden of National City, California, Mrs. Robert Dimit of Tompkins, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Ollie C. Paden who died in infancy.

In 1875 he moved to Grinnell with his family. His wife died Oct. 19, 1891. January 22, 1895, he married Miss May E. Whitney of Grinnell. To this union one son, Richard C. Paden, was born. In 1910 they moved to San Diego where he has resided until his death, July 17, 1925. He is survived by his wife and children and one sister, Mrs. John R. Mitchel.
