D.K. SLEGGEL FUNERAL HELD HERE MONDAY

D.K. Sleggel of Lakeland, Florida, died there March 16 at the age of 56. The body was shipped here and funeral services held at the J.W. Frizzell home Monday, March 21, conducted by the Rev. E.W.F. Holler. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.

Mr. Sleggel had been gone from Brooklyn nineteen years, and only returned at the time of the burial of his father, Dennis Sleggel, on May 30, 1919, and the death of his mother, Mrs. Sarah Sleggel on June 5, 1921. He had been running a fruit ranch in Florida for a good many years. His brother Charles, has spent part of the time recently in Florida with him and part of the time in Brooklyn. At present he is in Florida and also another brother Oliver Sleggel. Two sisrers, Mrs. Will Frizzell of Brooklyn and Mrs. G.E. Binegar of Grinnell also survive.

D.K. Sleggel, son of D.C. and Sarah Sleggel was born near Brooklyn, Iowa and departed this life March 16, 1932 at a hospital in Lakeland, Florida, being at the time of his death in his fifty-sixth year.

In December 1913 he and a brother Oliver C. moved to Auburndale, Fla. where they have since been engaged in fruit growing. His life prior to that time was spent on the home farm west of Brooklyn.

He had been in failing health for the past year, but his condition was not considered serious until a few days before his death.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. J.W. Frizzell of Brooklyn, and Mrs. G.E. Binegar, and two brothers, Oliver C. and Charles F. Sleggel of Auburndale, Fla. His father, mother, and one sister, Mrs. Edna Smith, having preceded him in death.

Short services were held Monday afternoon at the J.W. Frizzell home here.

Pall bearers were Miller McCullough, Alvin Johnston, Earl Holley, Will Holley, Albert Swanson and Earl Brush.
