MRS. MARGARET KILMER
Mrs. Margaret L. Kilmer, 85, of Kirksville, MO, a former resident of Brooklyn and Deep River, died Thursday morning, Feb. 4 in the Kirksville Osteopathic Medical Center where she had been a patient since Jan. 25.
Memorial services for Mrs. Kilmer will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13 in the Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Thorpe, Gene Osborn, Charlie Kochuyt, Robert Walters, Kenneth Cheney, Jr., Daryl Goodlow, and Marvin Billman. Music will be provided by Mrs. Angie Hawkins. Interment of the cremains will be held at the convenience of the family.
Margaret L. Stevens Kilmer, daughter of August and Leona DeFreeze Stevens, was born Oct. 6, 1907, near Brooklyn. She was united in marriage to Amos A. Kilmer Feb. 28, 1925, in Davenport.
Mrs. Kilmer was reared in the Brooklyn area. After her marriage, she and her husband owned and operated a farm north of Deep River until his death. She then moved into Brooklyn where she lived until 1988 when she moved to Kirksville. Mrs. Kilmer was a member of the Catholic Church in Brooklyn. She was an avid supporter of the Democratic Party.
She is survived by two sons, Fred Kilmer and his wife, Gladys, of Kirksville, and Harry Kilmer, Sr., of Brooklyn; eight grandchildren, Craig Kilmer of Kirksville, Rhonda Hege of Ft. Morgan, Col., Rhene Fadling of Breckenridge, Col., Judith Howard of Phoenix, Ariz., Janyll Baird of Las Vegas, Nev., Harry J. Kilmer, Jr. and Dana Kilmer, both of Brooklyn, and Launee Kay Merical of Watkins; and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband who died Oct. 19, 1979, one grandson, three brothers, and six sisters.
