RITES HELD FOR MR. BAILLIE

Harold Clarence Baillie, 61, of Arlington Heights, Ill., died Saturday afternoon at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Hines, Ill., following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Baillie were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Damon R. Reese, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Organist was Julia Pearce.

Graveside rites were conducted by the Grinnell Veterans Ceremonial Unit. Pallbearers were M.C. Brooks, Bill Davenport, Marion Gibson, William H. Noel, William Page and Edwin M. Richardson.

The son of William and Emma Hazelwood Baillie, he was born Sept. 22, 1916, in Renwick. On Dec. 15, 1941, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. He was discharged in 1945.

Mr. Baillie was a groom and had worked at several horse race tracks. He had worked at the Arlington Horse Race Track until his illness.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Kathleen Mae) Griggs of Grinnell; a son, James Baillie of Chicago, Ill.; two grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Oscar (Jessie) Taylor of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence.
