LAST SERVICES ARE HELD FOR MRS. EFFIE STOCKS

Mrs. Effie Stocks died at her residence in Grinnell April 18, 1935, aged 75 years, 11 months and 20 days. Services were held at Smith's Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. R.W. Inglis, Friday afternoon. Mrs. Margery Bouma sang the selection used by her at Mr. Stocks' funeral 15 years ago. Mrs. Stocks was buried beside her husband in Greenwood cemetery, Nashua, after a service in the Little Brown Church in the Vale.

Effie Potter was born April 29, 1859, near Port Huron, Michigan. When she was six years old, her parents moved in a covered wagon to a farm near Ionia, Chickasaw county, Iowa, where she lived until her marriage with Cyrus Stocks, March 17, 1878. They came to Grinnell from Nashua in 1901, where they made their home until her husband's death in 1920.

For the last six years, Mrs. Stocks lived with her brothter and sisters at Ionia, returning to Grinnell last September. Of her immediate family, only her twin sister, Mrs. Elsie Bigelow of Pontiac, Michigan, remains, with two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Lizzie Stocks of Monmouth, Ill., and Mrs. Ella Potter Soneson of Hermiston, Oregon.

Of three children, to died in infancy. Her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. John Eighme, of Napa, Calif., were with her at the time of her death. Her granddaughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Adams, and great granddaughter, Geraldine Neely, live at Napa, California.

Mrs. Stocks had been a member of the Congregational churches at Nashua and later of Grinnell for many years. She was also a member of the W.C.T.U. and active in all church work.
