MRS. W.N. STONE OF MONTEZUMA PASSES AWAY

(From Montezuma Republican)

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence for Mrs. W.N. Stone, who died at her home Saturday morning from a heart attack from which she has been a sufferer for several years. The Rev. W.F. Vanderlip, pastor of the Presbyterian church was the officiating minister. Interment was made in the Montezuma cemetery.

Mrs. Sadie Bone, Miss Anna Blakley, Louis Gorsuch and R.R. Kline, the church quartet, sang favorite selections of the deceased. B.L. Powell, C.G. Adams, J.H. Platt, John Litzenberg, William Dodds and William Jordan were the pall bearers.

The death of Mrs. Stone marks the passing of one of Montezuma's finest women. She was loved by all who knew her for her sweet ways and personality. Young men and women who have grown up in the city remember her kindly greetings to them. She seemed to be ever thoughtful of children.

The following obituary was read at the services:

Minnie, daughter of George A. and Ella Waters, was one of two children of the home, the other a brother who preceded her to the beyond in September 1929, at Bristol, Ohio. She first saw the light of day Aug. 13, 1869. Her passing away occurred Saturday morning, Oct. 29, 1931, in a recurrence of the mortal heart disease from which she had been a sufferer for several years, at the age of 62 years, 2 months, and 17 days.

When about six years old she removed with her parents for a brief time to Illinois, and from there to a farm southeast of Montezuma. Here she spent her young life at school, graduating from the Montezuma school in due time.

In February, 1895, she was united in marriage to Wm. N. Stone of Montezuma, where they have resided ever since, and where she shared in all her husband's life and labors.

Her church is losing from its rolls a most valuable member, and a helper of long standing, her profession of faith in Christ and membership dating back to November, 1889. She has been a valued member of the board of trustees since her election in 1923 to the present time. She had much to do in setting her loved house in order, when, with her husband and other trustees, she took part in the remodeling of the Presbyterian church in 1923-24. She was also a member of the O.E.S., most dutiful and devoted.

Not ever given to demonstration, Mrs. Stone in her christian-like example has exhibited a friendliness which greatly advanced and helped everyone in all the circles in which she moved.

In these last years her cheer and courage in her affliction evidenced the reality and sureness of her faith. Not until, and except as she was prevented by sickness, did she fail in all these years to attend and take part in the public worship of her church. Past mortal sickness now, she has been transferred to membership in the triumphant church on high.

Surviving her besides her husband, are a cousin, Mrs. Wycoff of Santa Monica, Calif., a sister-in-law, Mrs. James Waters of Minneapolis, Minn., a niece, Mrs. Angeline Dercimer of Bismark, N.D., and other numerous relatives.
