WINSTON J. HAMILTON
Winston J. Hamilton, 54, of Grinnell died at his home Sunday, March 18.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 26, at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Reynolds of St. Mary's Catholic Church officiating. Honorary bearers will be John Hamilton, Byron Hamilton, Arthur Goodwin, David Rice and Jonathan Knudtsen. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.
The son of Robert Edward and Virginia Beverly Wosky Hamilton, he was born Oct. 26, 1946, in Grinnell,. He was a *1965 graduate of Grinnell High School.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967. Following his discharge, he attended college at St. Ambrose in Davenport. He later was employed as a union organizer of the Midwest Region of National Hospital and Health Care Employees in Davenport.
He was married to Darla Buckley Dec. 1, 1979, in Davenport. They moved to Grinnell in 1982, and he was employed at A.B. Hamilton & Son Insurance Co. He later established Grinnell Graphix in downtown Grinnell and started Game Research Design Co.
Mr. Hamilton was a member of the Grinnell American Legion and commander of the Veterans Memorial Commission.
He is survived by his wife; one daugher, Keli Brown of Grinnell; one grandson; two brothers, John of Altoona and Byron of Albuquerque, N.M.; and one sister, Anne Thrail of Anchorage, Alaska.
His parents preceded him in death.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Newton Animal Rescue League or the National World War II Memorial on the Mall, Washington, D.C.
