HARTZELL, Nathaniel Calendar, s. of John and Mary (Gardner) Hartzell was b. July 29, 1834 in Westmoreland Co., Pa. Married Mary C. Kuhns Feb. 12, 1860, in Hancock Co., Ill., residing there until 1877 when they came to Iowa, settling in Grinnell with their five children: John Newton and wife, Shirley Sisco; Charles Wesley and wife, Libbie Barns; Edward Hunter and wife, Mary Perry; Marion Calvin and wife, Ida Perry, all living in or near Grinnell. One dau., Olive Belle Beard, died Dec. 3, 1926 at Tama, Ia. Her husband, Elmer Beard, survives, and a son. Nathaniel C., died Aug. 7, 1907 and his wife, Mary C., Sept. 11, 1901, at Grinnell.
