LAST RITES SAID FOR NOBLE OLDS

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Smith Funeral Home for Mr. Noble B. Olds, 72, of Rte. 1, Malcom, who died suddenly Sunday evening at Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.

The Rev. Willard Reynolds, pastor of the Chester United Church of Christ, officiated. Organist was Mrs. Willard Heffner.

Pallbearers were Earl Green, Howard Green, Jesse Strike, Ralph Buchwald, Murray Moffett and Dale Slinghuff/Slingluff?

Burial was in Chester Cemetery north of Grinnell.

The son of Andrew J. and Georgana Moffett Olds, Mr. Olds was born Sept. 24, 1896 near Gilman in Poweshiek County, Iowa. He attended the school near his home and spent most of his life in this area. He had farmed near Marshalltown and also worked in a dairy near Oelwein. Later he was employed at the hemp mill near Traer and more recently had been employed with the Maytag Company at Newton where he had retired eight years ago. He was a member of the Chester United Church of Christ (Congregational).

Survivors include one brother and two sisters--Eldon Olds of Grinnell, Mrs. Foster (Alice) Wolcott of rural route Malcom and Mrs. Edna Green of Marshalltown. He was preceded in death by his parents and a half sister, Mrs. Grace Fuller.
