HARRY M. PARSONS BURIED SATURDAY AT CHESTER CENTER

Graveside services were held at Chester Center cemetery Saturday morning for Harry M. Parsons, 86, former Grinnell area resident who died July 25 in Sheridan, Wyo., at the home of a daughter. He became ill this summer and had been hospitalized since June 9.

The Rev. Leland Mann conducted the graveside rites and burial was in the family lot at Chester beside his wife who preceded him in death in 1937.

OBITUARY

Born Dec. 12, 1867, in Syracuse, N.Y., Harry M. Parsons was the son of Elizaer N. Parsons and Elizabeth Brownelle Reed. He came with the family to Grinnell at the age of 3. Parsons attended public schools and the Grinnell college academy.

On March 13, 1896, he was married in Grinnell to Evaline E. Forehand of Chester Center. After living in the Grinnell and Marshalltown vicinities, the family moved in 1904 to eastern South Dakota and in 1914 to the Black Hills (Rapid City).

Four children survive, H. Merle Parsons, a member of the faculty of Colorado State College of Education at Greeley, Colo.; Mrs. Robert (Marie) Kinney of Sheridan, Wyo.; Mrs. Harold (Fern) Swift of Rapid City, S.D.; Mrs. W.W. (Nelda) Guthrie of St. Joseph, Mo.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are one sister, Miss Caroline H. Parsons, 93, of Bellflower, Calif., and four nieces.
