Spent Forty-eight Years of Happy Married Life in Grinnell.
------------------------

Luella Reiter was born in Pequa, Ohio, September 1, 1857, and left this life at her home in Grinnell Thursday morning May 17, 1928.

At the age of twelve she came with her parents to Grinnell. After living on a farm near Lynnville for eight years they moved to Kansas where she taught school.

On the 17th of November, 1880, she united in marriage to Arthur J. Neely. To this union one daughter, Mrs. A.H. Dempster was born. Their forty-eight years of married life have been happily lived in Grinnell with the exception of several years spent in California. Her married life has been characterized by a beautiful faithfulness which has always been returned by the deep devotion of her husband.

One of the real contributions to a life of service was her gentle care of her aged mother for many years.

She was a real Christian. She has been a member of the Methodist Church nearly all her life. She was an active member of the church missionary societies. Daily Bible reading was a necessary part of her life.

Besides her husband she is survived by her daughter, Mrs. A.H. Dempster, of Grinnell; four grandchildren, Mrs. Ernest Peters, Mildred, Roscoe and Arthur Dempster, all of Ginnell; and two brothers, Mack Reiter of Grinnell and Ward Reiter of Canon City, Colorado. In addition to these relatives there is a host of friends who will miss her.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Methodist church conducted by Rev. H.C. Rice. Mrs. J.S. McCunniff and Mrs. Roscoe Dempster sang, very sweetly, "No Night There" and "My Beautiful Dream." Pall bearers were A.A. Reno, Elmer Bortell, I.S. Bailey, G.W. Richards, W.H. Alley and Glenn Anderson. Burial was in Hazelwood.
