FORMER GRINNELL RESIDENT DIES

Kellogg, Ia., Sept. 29, Special:Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Wright, 74, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mabel Galusha, in Newton Tuesday afternoon of last week, were held at the Morgan funeral home there Thursday afternoon, with Rev. C.R. Neel, pastor of the Christian church in charge, assisted by Dr. J. Irvine Walker of the Congregational church.
Elsie J. Birchard was born October 24, 1859, near Leavenworth, Kans. She came to Iowa at the age of two years and the family located on a farm south of Kellogg. She was united in marriage to George Jay Wright September 17, 1876, and they made their home in Kellogg, where he was engaged in the mercantile business. Three children were born of this union, all of whom survive. Mr. Wright died in 1917 and Mrs. Wright then moved to Grinnell, where she made her home until 1926, when she went to Newton to live with her daughter.
She was a member of the First Christian church in Newton and a charter member of Kellogg chapter No. 150 O.E.S.
Surviving relatives include her daughter, Mrs. Galusha; two sons, R.C. of Pasadena and J.G. of Los Angeles; two sisters, Mrs. C.W. Rowland of near Kellogg and Mrs. J.F. Slater of Johnstown, Pa.; three grandchildren, Gerald Wright of Washington, D.C.; June Wright of Pasadena, and Mrs. Dorothy Hunter of Santa Monica, Calif.; also three great grandchildren.
Burial was made in the family lot in Our Silent City.
