JOHN WILDER'S FUNERAL IS HELD
John Wilder, son of Rufus and Betsy Wilder, was born in Ashtabula county, Ohio, May 25, 1856, and died at his home in Grinnell, April 17, 1928.
He was married to Zada Rose at Dowagiac, Michigan, January 24, 1875. To them were born six children, four of whom died in infancy; one son died at the age of ten years. Mr. Wilder is survived by his wife, daughter, a grand-son, and one brother, Mart Widler of Six Lakes, Michigan, and numerous other relatives.
Funeral services were held at the family home Saturday afternoon at one o'clock, conducted by Miss Ida King, the First Reader of the Christian Science society. Two favorite hymns--"Beulah Land" and "Come Ye Disconsolate" were beautifully rendered by Mrs. D.H. Snook and Mrs. Robert Bouma. Burial was in the family lot at Colfax.
Relatives from out of the city who were here for the services were: Harold Rose, Ft. Sill, Okla.; Mrs. Frank Rose, Rockwell City; Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Daft and daughters with their families, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Rose and George Rose, all of Colfax; and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Rose, Newton.
Mr. Wilder has lived in Grinnell about twenty-six years, and has made hosts of friends by his honesty and courtesy in business and by his kindly and generous spirit as a neighbor. He was devoted to his family, loyal to his friends, and faithful to all his duties and privileges as a citizen.
