DOROTHY V. HOLTZ
Dorothy V. Holtz, 77, of 1127 Main St., Grinnell, died Thursday, April 14, at Friendship Manor where she had been a resident since February.
Her body was willed to the University of Iowa College of Medicine. A memorial service was conducted Monday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lon L. Lewis, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist was Margaret Wheeler.
The daughter of Charles A. and Eda Friedrichs Hink, she was born Feb. 20, 1917, in Grinnell. She was a 1934 graduate of Grinnell High School and a 1936 graduate of the American Institute of Business.
She was married to Paul C. Holtz Nov. 30, 1938, in Nashua. The couple farmed near Dysart for 22 years and later lived in Waterloo before moving to Grinnell in 1966. She was employed at the former Bangs Clothing Store.
She was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church and was involved with the Billy Robinson Field/Grinnell Regional Airport dedication committee.
Surviving are two daughters, *Susan Witwer of Cedar Falls and Christie Smith of Waterloo; one son, Charles of Leesville, La.; a sister, Irene Cleland of Leisure City, Fla.; a brother, Carl H. Hink of Falls Church, Va.; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Helen Bortell.
