JOANNA J. HAGERTY
Joanna J. Hagerty, 60, of R.R. 2, Deep River, Ia., died on June 23, 1988, in Grinnell General Hospital at Grinnell, Ia.
She was born on May 14, 1928, near Malcom, Ia., the daughter of Archie and Helen Syrcup Johnston. She graduated from Guernsey High School in 1946 and then worked in Cedar Rapids, Ia. On November 26, 1948, she was united in marriage with John Hagerty at Tama, Iowa. They lived at Tama for four years and since have farmed near Deep River. She was a member of the Willing Workers Club.
Joanna was a homemaker and loved to spend time with her family. She also liked to be outside and would frequently help with the farm work.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, John, of Deep River; three sons: Joseph and his wife, Melodie of Muscatine, Ia.; Robert and his wife, Barbara, of Deep River; and Matthew of Des Moines, Ia; three grandchildren: Jared, Justin and Ryan; her step-mother, Mrs. Archie (Hazel) Johnston of Montezuma and two sisters and their husbands: Juanita and Glen Bower of Slater and Judy and Lyle Cole of Webster City.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 1988, at Watts Funeral Home, Montezuma. Officiating was Rev. Cloyd Bishop of the United Church, Deep River. Mrs. Kathleen Ramsey was organist. Casket Bearers were Dale Gorsch, Daryl Goodlow, Paul Van Ersvelde, Don Wauters, Glenn Osborn, and Leland Winegarden. Flower attendants were Helen Brooks and Emily Gorsch. Interment was in Jackson Township Cemetery, Montezuma, Ia. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
